{"id":591,"date":"2014-01-02T20:44:06","date_gmt":"2014-01-03T04:44:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kagan.mactane.org\/blog\/?p=591"},"modified":"2014-01-02T20:49:56","modified_gmt":"2014-01-03T04:49:56","slug":"year-end-self-grading","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kagan.mactane.org\/blog\/2014\/01\/02\/year-end-self-grading\/","title":{"rendered":"Year-End Self-Grading"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The past couple of years, I&#8217;ve posted a <a href=\"https:\/\/kagan.mactane.org\/blog\/2011\/12\/31\/a-failed-goal\/\">couple of year-end<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/kagan.mactane.org\/blog\/2012\/12\/29\/how-did-i-do-this-year\/\">retrospective posts<\/a>, analyzing how much I&#8217;d posted, and how much of it had to do with gender issues. Time for this year&#8217;s round-up! (A few days&nbsp;late.)<\/p>\n<p>This year (well, last year), I managed only 12 posts total. Which sucks. Of those, two were tagged with &#8220;gender&#8221;, for a rate of 16.667%. Which is above the 10 or even 12% that I&#8217;d like to&nbsp;maintain.<\/p>\n<p>But somehow, with only 12 posts written at all, it feels pretty unsatisfying. Especially given that I <strong>completely missed <a href=\"http:\/\/findingada.com\/\">Ada Lovelace Day<\/a><\/strong>. (I was sick a lot in the run-up to it. Which is no&nbsp;excuse.)<\/p>\n<p>Then again, the fact that my gender posts had nothing to do with Ada Lovelace Day is kind of encouraging&nbsp;&mdash; it shows that I <em>am<\/em> actually operating according to the principles I set forth in my original &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/kagan.mactane.org\/blog\/2011\/01\/24\/ada-lovelace-day-is-not-enough\/\">Ada Lovelace Day Is Not Enough<\/a>&#8221; post: Don&#8217;t ghettoize posts about gender into just one day of the&nbsp;year.<\/p>\n<p>Still: Need to post more.
